The Mitchy Foundation is a Registered Charity in England and Wales, founded in loving memory of Michael John Badnall to help prevent cardiovascular disease and sudden cardiac events across Essex. From defibrillators in the community to free heart screenings, CPR sessions and support for grieving families, the foundation funds initiatives that genuinely save lives.
Ilex partnered with the team to design and build a bespoke website that finally matches the scale of what they do, making it easier for supporters to learn, donate and get involved.

The challenge
The previous site was outdated and hard to navigate — most of the foundation's reach was happening on Instagram instead of a home they owned.
As the foundation grew, the old website couldn't keep up. It looked dated, was difficult to update and didn't reflect the warmth or breadth of the charity's work. Supporters defaulted to Instagram for everything, leaving the site doing very little heavy lifting.
The brief was a trusted digital home with serious charity presence: quick to understand, easy to donate, and still personal and community-led.
What we did
A bespoke editorial website built around storytelling, clear initiatives and frictionless donations.
We designed a calm, editorial layout with a serif headline voice, warm off-white surfaces and a single confident red. The homepage opens with a mission-led hero and a live feed of press releases, fundraising stories and community updates.
Dedicated sections introduce each local initiative so supporters see exactly where their money goes. A focused donate page handles one-off and monthly giving with Gift Aid and clear reassurance around how funds are used.

A digital home that finally matches the work — and gives the foundation room to grow.
The new site gives The Mitchy Foundation the credibility of a national charity with the warmth of a local one. Supporters can now learn the story, follow the latest updates and donate in a few taps, while the team has a flexible platform to publish news, launch campaigns and rally the community around new initiatives.
With over £44,015 raised and thousands of people supported across three years, the website is set up to carry the next chapter of Mitchy's mission to prevent sudden cardiac death across Essex.
